The roaches are curious. The app doesn't need to be.
Last updated October 28, 2026
This policy covers Glassroach's current apps and glassroach.com. Glassroach is developed by Matt MacPherson. The apps are in development; this policy describes their current behavior and will be updated if it changes.
What stays on your device.
Glassroach stores preferences such as roach count and size, display calibration, appearance mode, shortcut, pause and snooze state, and apps you choose to hide it in. The macOS app also stores a local record of daily free-use time.
On Mac, it reads cursor position, mouse click counts, idle time, display information, and the foreground app's identity and fullscreen state to animate roaches and apply your settings. It does not capture the contents of your screen, record what you type, or upload this interaction data to us.
On iPhone and iPad, touch input drives the animation. If you select a photo or screenshot as a background, the app keeps a local copy for that purpose. It does not upload the image to us or browse your photo library. Local app data may be included in backups managed by your operating system.
The current apps contain no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, and they don't require a Glassroach account.
Purchases go through Apple.
The macOS purchase flow uses Apple's StoreKit. Apple processes payment and purchase records under its own policies. Glassroach reads verified transaction information, including product, original purchase date and entitlement status, to determine trial and unlock access. We don't receive your card details.
When you visit this website.
The site's roaming roaches and 3D viewer run in your browser. We haven't added advertising, analytics trackers, newsletter forms or visitor accounts.
The site is hosted through OpenAI Sites and delivered using Cloudflare. Their infrastructure processes technical request information, such as your IP address and browser information, to serve and protect the site. Security features may set cookies such as __cf_bm and process challenge data to distinguish visitors from bots. This is separate from the app's on-device behavior.
Read OpenAI's privacy policy and Cloudflare's cookie information for more about those services.
If you contact us.
Email sent to mattmac@hey.com includes the address you send from and anything you choose to share. We use it to answer your request and keep correspondence as needed for support and any legal obligations. Please leave private information out of screenshots and never send passwords or payment details.
We don't sell personal information or use support messages for advertising. To ask a privacy question or request deletion of support correspondence, email the same address. Local preferences and backgrounds are managed on your device; contact us if you need help removing them. Apple purchase records and hosting-provider records are managed by those providers.
